Ronde Barber suffered a pinched back nerve and will be out 2 weeks. It's a tough blow for the team but as long as the team can keep it together and not blow any games when he comes back they will look like the dominate team they were on Sunday Night.

Team News / Week 3 at Raiders

The team is 3-0 and they are looking like a real contender. Taking on the Raiders in a Superbowl rematch from 02. And just like that Superbowl the Bucs were able to put a hurt on the Raiders and their offense. Only allowing 1 offensive touchdown. They kept that high powered offense down. And they did not allow them to do much of anything. They caused them to turn the ball over 5 times. All of them on interecptions. They were rushing both of the Raiders QBs today pressuring them so much that they were making either bad throws or quick throws. Thanks to that Ronde Barber was able to have himself one heck of a game. He was able to get 2 picks and 3 tackles on the day. Now I know that doesn't sound like he did much but we was able to shut down their Hall of Fame receivers. They we're still able to get their numbers but a lot of passes that could of went to them we're batted down or picked off. Barber was not going to let them get beat with the long ball. And they were able to do that. Only one deep pass happened on them and it was called back cause Rice stepped out of bounds. Other than that one play their longest was a 20 yard pass and that was cause Rice was able to break free. That defense was the real MVP of the game. Not only did Barber have a good game Kelly was able to get himself 7 tackles on the day and lead the team as well. Don't worry the leader of the defense made a play as well getting a pick for himself. No tackles but if you aren't going to get any tackles getting a pick is just as good. Quarles and Bennett we're also able to jump on the pick train and grabbed themselves a pick each. Quarles was able to get 2 tackles on the day while Bennett got 1 tackle. But they didn't just pick off the QBs they sacked them too. Getting 3 sacks on the QB on the day, by 3 different players.  Wyms, McFarland and White were all able to bring down Gannon. He couldn't go anywhere. They held Gannon to only 83 yards and no touchdowns. The defense gave up a total of 351 yards total. And 318 of those yards came from the passing game. Once Kerry Collins came in the game in the second half the game was already out of reach at that point. But they shut down their running game giving up 33 yards on the ground. Wheatley could go anywhere and with them being down so early they almost gave up on the run. As good as the defense was on Sunday Night Football the offense did their jobs as well. They did not have an unbalanced day with their d. The Bucs had 456 total yards and 221 of those yards came in the first half alone. Johnson had himself a pretty good game being able to go over 300 yards passing and get 2 touchdowns. First time he has done that this season. He was 27-39 for 315 yards with those 2 TDs and just one pick. He had a passer rating of 99.8 almost a 100 passer rating. The backs also stepped their game up in prime time. Pittman had 97 yards rushing on 8 carries and 1 touchdown he also caught 2 passes for 7 yards. Mike Alstott didn't run the ball great only getting 44 yards on 8 touches. The Raiders had him stopped. But they couldn't hold him in the passing game. He had 8 receptions for 56 yards and grabbed a touchdown reception. It was a big game for the rookie Michael Clayton. He had the best game he has had all year. Getting more receptions in this game then the last 2 games combined. He grabbed 6 passes for 97 yards. He keeps playing like this he might be a starter or at least get him the ball more. Galloway and McCardell didn't have bad games just not as good of games as Clayton. Galloway had 4 catches for 54 yards and a touchdown. McCardell was able to grab 3 receptions for 63 yards. Even Joe Jurevicius was able to get some passes thrown to him. He only had 3 catches for 26 yards but every little bit helps. If the Bucs can keep playing like this and don't let up they will have the best defense again. They will have to bring their A game cause the Broncos aren't a team to over look. They need to focus and get ready for Denver next.

Team News / Week 3 vs 49ers
« Last post by Justis22 on October 09, 2018, 06:20:06 pm »
First win of the season and it was a very close game. It was a game that could of went either way. The stats don't show how close it really was. Even though the Seahawks had a ton of yards it was still a very close game. But it didn't really help that Hasselbeck was throwing picks all over the place. Hasselbeck had himself a good stat day with 312 yards on 24-46. With just 1 touchdown to go with his 3 interecptions. Lucky he has Shaun Alexander on his team Alexander was able to rush for over 100 yards today. He carried the ball 10 times for 169 yards and 1 touchdown. He also had 4 receptions for 26 yards. It was a good day for the receivers as well. Hasselbeck might of had a badish day everyone else was able to play well. Not only did Alexander have a good game Jackson had a great as well. He was able to grab 6 passes for 112 yards. No one on the Niners d could keep him from the ball. Robinson was also having a good game. He tried to out do Jackson with 8 receptions for 89 yards. Out of all the passes thrown to Robinson he only missed 2 passes. And both of them were on the QB not him. One was picked off and the other went over his head. Someone who really didn't show up was Engram who only had 2 catches for 19 yards. Nothing really special but he did get a touchdown on the day.  So in a way he did contribute to the team in some way. 4th string receiver Bannister was able to get some playing time and he showed up a bit. Trying to make a name for himself.  He had 4 receptions for 66 yards. Not too bad for a guy who doesn't see much action. The offense did what they could but with the stats they put up you would image they would score more than 30 points. They will have to go into the bye week and figure out what's going on, it was nice to get themselves a win but if they want to keep that going they need to figure it out and get their heads straight. On the other side of the ball. The defense did everything they could to not lose the game. They had to fight and hold the Niners aa much as they could. Due to the offense turning the ball over so much. They had to really have their A game today. They were able to hold the Niners to only 263 yards total. Hasselbeck was able to pass for more yards than what the Niners put up total. 197 yards passing and 66 yards rushing. It looks like the d has their rhythm and if the offense can hold the ball and not make many or any mistakes they might be able to turn around the season and have a bounce back. Simmons and Trufant we're able to lead the pack with 5 and 4 tackles. Trufant only in his 2nd year has shown some real promise and he might be heading to being the Seahawks too defensive guy. He keeps this up he just might be a shut down corner. Or at least we are hoping he turns out to be that. Even though the defense was able to almost shut down the Niners they weren't able to really rush the QB. This should of been a game where the d ran all over the young kid, but they barely we're able to rush him. He had a lot of time back their to find his guys and get it to them. Of they can get to the QB better they might have a chance to have a good defense this year. But they need to rush the QB better. The rest of the defense is doing what they need to do but that front line needs to hurry the QB and beat up on the o-line. But they will have a week to rest and figure out so let's not worry to much yet.

Team News / Week 3 at Seahawks

It was a very close game and even though it's another lose to add to the stat sheet and yes it means we are 0-3 there were some good things that happened against the Seahawks. The defense stepped up and kept the team in the game. And they only lost by 3 points. Plus we might have our future quarterback at least for this season anyway. Dorsey had his first career start today and he didn't do to bad. He might not have lighted up the stats, but he had a good game. Not bad for his first career start. He was 23 for 30 for 197 yards. He was even able to throw 2 touchdown passes. Which is the most throw by a 49er quarterback this year. He had a passer rating of 115.6 and his completion percentage was 77%. He was on target and he didn't throw many bad passes and he was able to stand his ground. Dennis Erickson wanted to keep the game simple for Ken and it showed by Dorsey having a good game. Barlow was able to help his young QB out. He rushed for 66 yards on 12 carries and was able to catch 5 passes for 23 yards and scored a touchdown. But his main receiver really stepped up and helped him have a good game. Lloyd had a big game. Best game of the season, he had 9 receptions for 83 yards and 1 touchdown. Other than that no one else really had a crazy good game. Wilson had 4 receptions for 33 yards and Tight End Johnson had 3 catches for 31 yards. As you can tell the offense didn't have a massive great game. They had the type of game that kept them in it and gave them a chance to win. They did enough but not enough to win it. But the offense showed some real promise and if they can keep that kind of play up next week against the Rams they might win, just maybe. Now the side of the ball that really controlled the game in a way. The Niners defense was the real talk of the game. They were doing whatever they could to win the game. Rumph was able to have one heck of a game. It was almost like Hasselbeck didn't know that he wasn't on his team. Cause Rumph was able to get to picks. One of them was a really bad pass and the other he was able to jump the receiver and get in front of it. He also had himself 3 tackles.  Now the guy who shocked me with his interecption was Young. The defensive tackle he had a pass thrown right to him and he tried to run it all the way back. Didn't get far but you can't blame the big man for trying to get a touchdown for himself. Parrish and Heard lead the Niners with 6 tackles and 5 tackles. They were all over the field today. Peterson was able to get himself 4 tackles on the day as well. They rushed the  quarterback a lot which might of lead to so many picks. But with all that pressure they put on the Seahawks they we're only able to sack Hasselbeck once. Engelberger was able to get the lonely sack for the team. He added a sack to go with his 2 tackles on the day. Now after saying what they did good they still have up 481 yards on the day. Now even though they gave up 481 yards they still we're able to keep themselves in the game. They gave up 312 yards passing and 169 yards rushing. Alexander was able to run through them like it was nothing. He even managed to bust out a 55 yard run.
If they can tighten up the defense up a little and if the offense can score a little more then what they did they might have a chance against the Rams. Not much of a chance but their game play today was definitely the best of the season.

Can you say what a game. Manning and Harrison had another great game. Just another game to add to their MVP like seasons. If Harrison keeps having games like this Manning might have to fight for the MVP and the player he has to beat might be on his own team. Manning was 27-44 for 367 yards and not to mention he threw 5 touchdowns. Another game were he has thrown more than 3 touchdowns. Every game this year he has done that. And it shows as he leads the league in touchdown passes with 13. But he also leads the league in passing as well as he is the first QB this season with over a thousand yards. But he is not the only one who leads the league. His number one guy leads the league in receptions and yards with 39 receptions and 619 yards. And Harrison had himself another rgame were he went over 100 yards for the 3rd game this year. He had 9 receptions for 115 yards and caught a TD pass. If the Colts keep this up they just might go undefeated. Manning and Harrison didn't just have good games either. Wayne had himself a good one as well. He had 6 receptions for 103 yards and 1 touchdown. The other receivers decided to step up and show that they could play just as well as the top guys. Clark had 4 catches for 58 yards and 2 touchdowns. You couldn't stop him once they got into the red zone. He was automatic when he threw it to him in the endzone. Even Pollard decided to get in on all the fun with 4 catches for 26 yards and also a touchdown. The only receiver that didn't get a touchdown pass was Stokley but he had a decent game though. With 3 receptions for 59 yards. Even their running game was able to shine on this day. James was able to get loose and carry the ball 11 times for 100 yards and he also caught one pass. The defense had themselves a pretty decent game as well. Not as great as the offense but it's hard to shine when they were on fire all day. The defense gave up 395 yards. They had 284 yards through the air and 111 yards on the ground. Their defense was able to shut them down in 3rd down and able to sack Favre 3 times on the day. Their defensive leader Dwight Freeney was able to get himself a sack along with Reagor and Williams. But sacks weren't the only thing they were able to get today they were also able to pick off Favre and change the whole game. Jefferson might have had 1 tackle but his pick was the biggest game changer. Bashir and Brackett lead the Colts with 6 and 5 tackles. After what we saw today from the Colts if they do this next week against division rival Jaguars they might have a comfy lead in the division.
