Well it was another close rough game for Steeler nation. Now with this lose the Steelers are now 0-3. Not a great way to start a season. This is not what fans were hoping for when the season started. The worse thing about this lose was the Steelers almost came back and won it. They were able to shut down the Dolphins offense in the 2nd half. They only allowed a field goal in the 2nd half. They were making a coming back and came so close but ended up losing it. With a score of 21-24 add another close game to the list. The 2nd close game this season for them. They could be 2-1 instead of 0-3. And more bad news to add on. Tommy Maddox got injured late in the 3rd quarter of the game with an elbow injury. He wasn't doing much to help the team out though. Maddox was 8-12 with 98 yards and no touchdown. Luckily they had a decent running game today to help a bit out. Bettis had 8 attempts for 109 yards and 1 touchdown. Staley didn't have a good game but he still helped out where he could. He had 5 attempts for 37 yards and caught in pass for a touchdown. The receivers didn't do too much cause the quarterback play wasn't great. Ward only had 5 receptions for 63 yards and Burress had 4 receptions for 79 yards. And Burress almost had a touchdown if he didn't slip. He was so close to the endzone and when he was 5 yards away slipped right in front of it. On a more positive note we got to see the rookie Ben Roethlisberger play today. Filled in for the rest of the game for Maddox. For his first game he didn't do well but he didn't do horrible. He was 4-7 for 90 yards and throw his 1st touchdown but he also threw his 1st pick too. But I will say for him to come in late in the game and try to help them make a comeback it wasn't too bad. It didn't help that the o-line was terrible and couldn't keep people away from him. He had to rush his throws all game and ran out of the pocket a lot. But it wasn't bad for a first game. Now the defense. The steel curtain is definitely gone cause this d doesn't look good at all. They gave up 417 yards today. Yeah they had some stand outside today. With Hope and Haggans getting 6 tackles each and Polamalu shutting down receivers, but it wasn't even. One sack on the day isn't going to help. Allowing 250 yards passing and 167 rushing yards not a great way to play. The rain shoukd of helped and instead it was against them. Let's hope next week against the division leading Bengals they can pull out a miracle.

It was a raining crappy day for the Dolphins and Steelers. But that didn't stop the Dolphins offense from running all over the Steelers d. With Fiedler in one game the Dolphins offense already played ten times better. Fiedler already has more touchdown passings than Feely had. Jay had himseta pretty good game. He was 18-31 for 250 yards and 2 touchdowns and no picks. But it wasn't just all him that was doing it. He was getting a lot of help from Williams the leading rusher. Williams had another great game today. Rushed for 166 yards on 14 attempts and 1 TD. He didn't get 2 rushing touchdowns like he has all season, but he did get two touchdowns today. One receiving and one from rushing. He had himself 4 receptions for 21 yards and a score. He was doing it all for them today. And with David Boston being out due to being suspended the Dolphins had to look to their other receivers to help. Which was no problem they all stepped up and helped as much as they could. Chambers had 5 receptions for 99 yards, Thompson had 3 receptions for 41 yards, Minnis had 2 receptions for 37 yards and Wilkins had 2 catches for 34 yards and a touchdown. Fiedler got help from all his receivers. The defense was also playing a good game as well. They were able to sack the quarterback 5 times today. The Steelers o-line looked terrible today. The Dolphins d-line was pushing them back and disrupting the QB all day. They were getting sacks from everybody today. Taylor had the most with 2 sacks. Bowens, Ogunleye, and Williams we're all able to get a sack on the QB today. Knight had a pretty good game as well. It started off rough getting trucked twice by Bettis. But he finished it up with a solid game. Leading the team in tackles with 5 and getting a pick. Greenwood was right up there with him with 4 tackles. The defense gave up only 343 yards. It might of been the rain that helped or a better offense but whatever it was the Dolphins we're stopping the offense today. 188 passing and 155 rushing. The Steelers couldn't do much in the air they could find open guys and they were getting shut from every area. The d was over the place they were not going to lose another game. No thanks to the defense they will be hosting the Jets next week and will be looking to start a win streak.

So it was a rough week for the Texans. They gave up 44 points and 2 returns back for a touchdown. Even though the defense was able to cause 3 turnovers it didn't help them out too much. The offense didn't really give them too much help. Only scoring 23 points. They were able to get 2 touchdowns but everytime they were in the red zone they were only able to come away with 3 field goals. David Carr had a good game today. His best game of the season. He was 25-40 for 304 yards and 1 touchdown.  He didn't even throw a pick in this game. He threw for 63% not a bad game passing. Andre Johnson makes it a lot easier when he is your receiver. Johnson had himself another great game. He had 7 receptions for 124 yards. He didn't get a touchdown but he still but up big numbers. Carr got help from his other receivers as well. Miller and Bradford were both able to grab 4 receptions. And Gaffney had 3 receptions. Even their running back had a couple grabs. Davis had 4 receptions for 35 yards and 1 touchdown. Davis didn't have much of a running day.  Only 9 attempts for 55 yards. He had a good day running. He  was tough to put down today. Why they didn't run the ball more is beyond me. They had a good day running it. They should of kept running it, they might of had a chance of winning if they kept running. Now the defense might have had 3 interecptions but they weren't playing very well. I'm sure it didn't help that the offense wasn't giving them much help. They gave up 487 yards. They were good at stopping the passing game with giving up 195 yards. Yeah not the best amount to give up  but it was better than the 292 yards they gave up in the running game. They had an average of 20.9 yards per carry. The Chiefs running backs just had their way with them and that average per carry is the highest given all season by a team. It was a very rough game for their defense. No one on the defense really standed out. The rookie Glenn Earl got his first interception but other than that no really highlights on defense. The Texans will be hosting Oakland next week we will see how they do next against them. They can only hope they can stop the passing game like they did with the Chiefs.

Team News / Week 3 vs Texans

Cheifs we're at home this week. Taking on the lonely Texans. The Cheifs had a very rough start to the game. On their first drive of the game Trent Green threw a very dumb interception. But the defense was on point in the game only allowing the Texans a field goal on the turnover. The first half was very rough for the Cheifs. Green only threw 7 passes in the first half.  And half of those were picked off. He did over a 100 yards in the first half so it wasn't all bad. Plus the defense held the Texans to only to 6 points in the first half. Their only score of the game in the first half came from the human joy stick Dante Hall. Who ran back a 98 yard return for a touchdown. Hall was on fire to. After being stopped the first 2 weeks he went off today. He had 7 returns for over 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. In the first two weeks he didn't get past the 50 yard line and today he ran back a punt and a kickoff back. The second half is when the Cheifs really stepped up and started scoring. Green finally calmed down and didn't turn the ball over again. Green was 8-13 for 195 yards 1 touchdown and 3 interecptions. The interecptions hurt but the defense and run game helped him out. Priest Holmes was 10 for 173 yards and one score and Larry Johnson also helped out with 119 yards on only 4 attempts and 2 touchdowns. Obviously the passing game wasn't much of a factor but Gonzalez was still able to put up good numbers. With 5 receptions for 155 yards and one touchdown. No one else stepped up to help Gonzalez out. The next closes to Tony was Hall who had 2 receptions for 28 yards. Hall didn't need to do much in the passing game he did enough on the return game. The defense had a tough a day though. They gave up 407 yards. But 304 yards of those were through the air. They were able to stop them from scoring but Carr was able to go through them like it was nothing. But towards the end of the game they were able to shut down Carr. They also gave up 103 yards rushing as well.  It wasnt easy for the defense. Plus it didn't help that the offense wasn't doing much to help them out. A bright spot for the defense was Finley. He was all over the field, he ended up getting 6 tackles and he almost got a sack today. He had 4 broken up passes and he was doing everything he could to help his team out in everyway. Fujita had good game as well. He had 8 tackles and one sack. Next week the Chiefs will be at the Ravens for their next game. If they want to keep their winning streak going they need to hold on to the ball and not turn it over. The Ravens will make them pay for it big time.
