Team News / Week 3 at Lions
« Last post by Justis22 on August 19, 2018, 08:25:56 pm »
The Eagles keep rolling. With a 35-15 win over the Lions. They put a hurt on them. Managing to sack Harrington 2.5 times and forcing 3 turnovers. The defense was on fire today and there was no stopping them today. The offense also showed their muscles as well. Getting 405 total yards on the day. McNabb had a good game going 16-24 with 326 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. He threw to 6 different receivers today. T.O. being his favorite target. Connceting with him for 7 grabs for 132 yards and a touchdown. Owens unfortunately left the game early in the 2nd quarter with back spasms. McNabb had to look for help elsewhere today. L.J. Smith was able to help out in a big way. Having 2 receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. Todd Pinkston tired to help but he wasn't acting like a number 2 receiver. Only having 2 receptions for 41 yards. Westbrook did what he could but he didn't have a normal game for himself. He rushed 14 times for only 65 yards. But in the red zone he made up for it. Scoring 2 rushing touchdowns though. He had a couple of catches but nothing like he normal does. The offense wasn't the story of the day it was the defense and their secondary. They were on fire today, getting 3, interceptions on Harrington. Rushing him and getting 2.5 sacks on him. They forced him to think on his feet and hold the ball too long and the secondary took advantage. Dawkins , Ware and interception leader on the team with 3 Lewis all got a pick today. Matt Ware was able to get his first career interception today as well. Dawkins had a good game with a pick and 6 tackles. He was all over the field today. He wasnt the only one that had a good day. Nate Wayne had a good game. He had 5 tackles and a sack. Wayne has had a good year so far with 10 tackles and 2 sacks. He is tied for 2nd on the team with both tackles and sacks. The defense gave up 352 yard total. 256 yards passing and 96 yards rushing. I will say the one thing that wasn't great for them was their 4th down conversion. The Lions we're 100% on converting them. The Lions we're 25% on 3rd down but when they went for it they got it every time. But when you hold them to only 15 points you can't complain. They allowed them to get to the red zone once and they left with a field goal. One touchdown and one other field goal. The Eagles will be in Chicago next week and will have to win without their leading receiver Terrell Owens who will be out.

Team News / Week 3 vs Eagles
« Last post by Justis22 on August 19, 2018, 07:08:05 pm »
Lions hosted the red hot Eagles at home. And we're on the losing end of the game. Losing by 20 points. The Lions had a hard time scoring the ball at all. Scoring one touchdown today. They did get a safety by sacking McNabb. They were able to get to McNabb a couple of times sacking him twice. They were rushing him a lot. Now if the offense could of pulled their weight they might of been able to slow down the Eagles. Joey Harrington had a horrible day throwing the ball. Even though he was 72% on his completions he tossed 3 interecptions and had 1 touchdown.  In this game alone he tossed more interecptions than touchdowns thrown app season. He is right now tied for the most interecptions thrown this year with 6. That is an average of 2 picks a game. It wouldn't be as bad if he was throwing a lot of touchdowns but he has only thrown 2 touchdowns. The team needs to either figure out what he is doing and help him out or switch quarterbacks and let him step back and learn from his mistakes. They need to do something cause their offense is struggling right now. Charles Rodgers had a no show type of game and he wasn't even out there for the second half. We didn't get any word on why he wasn't out there or if he was injuried or anything. But he wasn't doing much for them anyway. He had 2 receptions for 24 yards. And the other receivers weren't doing much to help out either. Other than Tai Streets who had 4 receptions for 56 yards and everyone else had one catch. Rookie Roy Williams has been playing like a 1st round pick. He had himself one monster game today. He had 7 grabs for 134 yards and 1 touchdown. No one could stop him. They shut him down from scoring in 3 quarters but he managed to find the endzone in the 4th quarter. Harrington was able to get 256 yards passing, the run game did their best to help out. Rookie Jones had a decent game rushing for 63 yards on 7 attempts and Schlesinger had 30 yards to help out. Jones got most of his yards on a long 36 yard run. Even though they weren't great on offense they had almost as many first downs as the Eagles. They had 17 and the Eagles had 18. But the defense wasn't all great. They gave up 405 total yards. Most of that was through the air with 326 yards. They shut down the ran game. Allowing only 79 yards. They let the Eagles get to the red zone 4 times and they were perfect in the red zone. Going 4/4 with 4 touchdowns. Next week they will be able to rest and gather themselves together and figure things out.

News, Trades, Signings, Releases / Week 3 Cardinals vs Falcons
« Last post by Justis22 on August 18, 2018, 07:27:14 pm »
The Falcons put on a clinic today beating the Cardinals 38-10. The Falcons showed that Michael Vick is their leader and without there leader they don't have much of an offense. So if you can stop him you stop them. But the Cardinals couldn't do that. They let him run for over 100 yards and score a total of 4 touchdowns. They really couldn't stop him today no matter what. He was doing it through the air and ground. The Falcons had Vick running all over them but Fitzgerald was running all over them. If it wasn't for Boldwin and Fitzgerald the Cardinals wouldn't have anyone coming to their games. Cause their Quarterback isn't all that great and Emmitt Smith looks like he is losing his step. I would guess he doesn't have much left in the tank. The Cardinals look like they made a big mistake singing him in the off-season. Well the Cardinals are looking to get their first win against the Saints. The Falcons will face the Panthers and hope to start a streak.

News, Trades, Signings, Releases / Week 3 Ravens vs Bengals

The Bengals won a tough game against division rival Ravens. Of a score of 23-14. It was a close game between these two teams. The Ravens looked good in the first half but in the second half the Bengals came alive and took control of the game. Scoring 10 unanswered points. Carson Palmer looked in his 3 start of his career. Throwing for over 300 yards and one touchdown. The Ravens offense and defense almost didn't show up today. Getting one touchdown on offense and the other one on special teams. Ray Lewis the leader of the defense was almost a no show. Getting only 2 tackles on the day and giving the Bengals no pressure at all. The Bengals will be looking to keep their hot streak going and win another against division rival Steelers. While the Ravens will be looking to bounce back against the Chiefs.

I don't know about you but I'm shocked with the 3-0 start with the Bengals. Palmer has only played 3 games for his career and he is looking amazing with another 300 yard game. Sitting a year looks like he did him well. He looks like he has been playing for years. Now we know why he was the 1st overall pick. Palmer was on fire today going 22-32 for 346 yards and 1 touchdown. He would of had himself 2 touchdowns but Chad Johnson dropped an open pass. Speaking of Chad Johnson he had himself a game as well. He had 7 receptions for 160 yards. T.J. Houshmandzadeh had a good game as well. Making some big plays for the offense. He had 4 receptions for 70 yards and grabbed a touchdown. Warrick unfortunately didn't have as good of a game as Johnson and Houshmandzadeh had. He only had 3 receptions for 39 yards. He was getting shut down. Palmer could not find him at all. He just was not able to get open. Rudi Johnson made Palmer's day a little easier as well. He had 7 attempts for 69 yards and 1 touchdown, but he also did more than run he also caught 3 balls for 10 yards. The offense wasn't the only side of the ball that played well. The defense played outstanding today. Only allowing 277 yards total. 146 yards passing and 131 yards rushing. Gave up a lot of rushing yards but was able to shut down Boller and the passing game. They rushed Boller a lot and caused him to roll out a lot. They couldn't get a sack on him but they were able to shut down the offense. They won their first division game and will take on the struggling Steelers and try to win their second division game.

Team News / Week 3 at Bengals

The Ravens we're on the road and playing their third straight division game. It was a close game all the way to the end, but the Ravens just couldn't pull it off. They lost 23-14. The defense did a good job of keeping them out of the endzone in the first half. Only giving them one touchdown. And allowing 2 field goals. They actually went into the half with the lead 14-13. But if you were watching you knew it wasn't going to end well for them. Carson Palmer already had 216 yards passing at that point. They kept him out of the endzone for the first half but Palmer has been on fire this year and if they couldn't figure it out a way to stay he was going to torch them. Which he ended up doing to them. They were able to shut down the Bengals backs and hold them to 78 yards rushing, but Palmer was able to let the ball fly and put up 346 yards on them. The most allowed all season so far. When it came to the red zone the Ravens we're able to hold their own and hold them to field goals. In the red zone they gave up 3 field goals and 1 touchdown all day. The defense was doing well in the first half but the offense wasn't giving them much help. Lewis had a decent game. He had  12 attempts for 94 yards. No touchdown but he was a beast running the ball today. He was breaking tackeles left and right. Lewis also got help from his backup Mosa Smith. He was 3-32 and 1 touchdown. It was good they got something from the run game cause Boller had yet another average game. He was 11-18 for 146 yards and no touchdown but had no interception either. He was on target for most of the game. He had a couple of dropped passes but he was on target for most of his throws. But when you can't trust your receivers to hold on to the ball you get scared to throw the ball. The line was not giving him much time so he didn't have much time to throw. He was lucky that he was able to get away from most of the rush no sacks today. Luckily he has Todd Heap on his team. Heap had 5 receptions for 70 yards. And he was a nice security blanket for Boller today. He made some amazing catches. He was able to make a crazy catch in traffic. And had a few good runs after the catch. Heap was the only one really helping today. Johnson and Taylor had combined the same amount of catches as Heap and only had 68 yards together. Johnson was getting shut down and Taylor could not hang on the ball. He had the most drops of both teams with 3. The defense had a rough day as well. They gave up the most yards for the season this year. With 424 yards total. That is almost 100 more yards than their average. They were beat through the air by the young Palmer with 346 yards. The secondary made him look like a ten year vet. The run was good but they need to figure out their passing game before their next game. They are facing the Chiefs next and I have faith they can stop Priest Holmes but can they stop Green and the passing game.

Well the best thing going for the Cardinals as of right now is their first round pick Larry Fitzgerald who has been having a monster year already. He leads rookie receivers in both receptions and receiving yards. He has 24 receptions for 357 yards and 1 touchdown.

Karlos Dansby has had a quite start so far with only 7 total tackles and a sack.
